India has rejected pakistan's proposal to open kartarpur sahib corridor. Pakistan had offered to open it from June 29. India said the corridor has been temporarily closed in the wake of corona virus. In addition, the government said that India has to give details of those travelling to Pakistan a week in advance. The current situation may be disturbed. This would only violate the bilateral agreement. The Government of India will take a further decision by talking to health authorities and concerned.

Earlier, Pakistan had said that it would open the Kartarpur Sahib corridor for Sikh devotees from June 29. This information was tweeted by Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Saturday. He said june 29 is the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Pak wants to open the corridor from this day. In fact, Pakistan had decided to close the Kartarpur Sahib corridor on March 16 in view of the growing threat of corona virus in India. It was first closed until March 31. But later Pak decided to keep it closed indefinitely.

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said,0 Religious places around the world are gradually opening up. Pakistan has also prepared to open the Kartarpur Sahib corridor of Sikh devotees.0 Pakistan has invited India to join hands in the processes to resume it.

Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib, located near the Ravi River in Pakistan's Narwal district, has a history of about 500 years old. It is believed that it was founded in 1522 by Guru Nanak Dev, the first sikh. He spent the last years of his life here.

The distance from Lahore to Kartarpur Sahib is 120 kms. It is about 7 kms away from the Indian border in Gurdaspur area. The governments of India and Pakistan had decided to build corridors to connect Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur and the Holy Gurudwara in Kartarpur, Pakistan.

The foundation of kartarpur corridor was laid in 2018. The foundation stone was laid in India on November 26 and in Pakistan on November 28. It was then dedicated to the public on 9th November 2019 on the prakhotsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
